School Head Master arrested for molesting student at Dabugam.


The headmaster of Karagam School in Nabarangpur district, who was arrested for allegedly molesting and sexually assaulting a class VIII student and charged under Section 354 (a) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 produced in court on Saturday.

According to police   father of a class VIII tribal student of Karagam school, under Dabugam block complained to the police on Friday that the accused headmaster Kailash Chandra Behera, regularly  ask her to go to his bed room to sweep, she followed his instructions and went to his room, soon Kailash Behera reportedly appeared there and embraced the girl.

He reportedly molested her and assaulted her sexually.  He “threatened that if she discloses to anybody he will be dismissed her from the hostel” when the act of the teacher unceasingly the girl summoned up courage left to her village informed her ordeal to her parents who promptly filed a police complaint on August 28th with the Dabugam police station.

Illegal abortion of tribal minor girl Doctor and two held at Nabarangpur.


A local retired doctor was arrested for allegedly aborting a seven-month-old foetus  of an unmarried tribal minor girl of Nandahandi, SDPO UC Nayak, said on Saturday.

The main accused Aswani Kumar Sarangi, of Nandahandi under Nabarangpur police limit who is the lover of the tribal minor girl.  In the pretext of to marry her kept illegitimate relation and when the girl was pregnant of about seven months deceived pregnant at Umerkote clinic of Dr.S.N Dash, (O & G).  Following the termination of
pregnancy, the girl and her parents allegedly murder in the death of the seven-month-old foetus at their clinic.

A case has been lodged at town police station vide case No 226/13 against the doctor and two others and in the connection police arrested Aswani and aided friend Kanhu Charan Dash, seized a indigo car connected in the case forwarded to the court of SDJM on 29th.

Police arrested Dr S N Dash, from Umerkote residence who ran a private maternity clinic at Umerkote, for allegedly illegal abortion of a 14-year-old unmarried girl here on Saturday, forwarded to court.

Freedom fighter Jagannath Tripathy remembered.

While inaugurating a meeting to commemorate the 6th death anniversary of the freedom fighter and Gandhian, and Khadi activities President awardee, Mondei shree  Jagannath Tripathy,  Former minister Niranjan Patniak, who is the chief guest of the occasion stressed upon the youth to eulogize and imbibe patriotism of freedoms fighters.
Prior to one day of Martyr’s day to be observed on 24th August 2007 near the bank of Turi river of Papadahandi, in Nabarangpur district, sad demise of Jaganath Tripathy occurred in the evening of 23rd August 2007. Jagannath Tripathy born on 14th June 1922 joined the Indian national congress when he was student of class sixth.
Being inspirited by his teacher who was also Ex-chief minister, Dr. Sadasiva Tripathy, Uncle Laxmi Chandra Dash, at the age of nineteen launched Satyagraha on 7th January 1941 at Dasarapada of Nabarangpur. He created public opinion against the British Govt and arrested for nine months and additional 3 months totaling one year imprisonment. He organised the prisoners in jail and agitated from within the jail. He was a revoluntary youth leader in Koraput jail.
 He remained as a member of the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee for long 42 years from 1948 to 1990. He was elected as MLA in the Harekrishna Mahatab ministry. In 1961 he was also elected as MLA from Dabugam-Kodinga joint constituency.  In the year 1992 he contested in the direct election of Nabarangpur Municipality and was elected as Chairman with majority of votes. The old Gandhain was following the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi throughout his life. He was honoured by the then president of Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam on 9th Aug.2004, and also received Mondei Sanman at Mondei lok Mohotsav.
To mark the occasion of Martyr’s day at Papadahandi saheed masal is being lighted by freedom fighter Md. Bazi, and Mr. patnaik. Among others MLA Bhujabala Majhi, former minister Parama Pujari, former Kodinga MLA, Sadan Nayak,  former zp chairperson, Manjula Majhi, Maa ghara foundation, district chairperson Kadambini Tripathy, lawyer N Ahmed, several members of saheed family speak on the occasion. The meeting is being presided over by Muna Tripathy.

District Planning Committee Meeting held at Nabarangpur.

The 12th district planning committee meeting was held under the chairmanship of Health minister Dr. Damador Rout, at the Ashok Meheta conference hall of collectorate, Nabarangpur on Friday.
District Collector Yamini Sarangi, presided over the meeting while Jharigam MLA, Sports and youth affairs minister,  Ramesh Chandra Majhi, Superintendent of police, Brajesh Kumar Rai,  Zilla Parisad President, Motiram Nayak, MLAs Bhujabala Majhi, Manohar Randhari, Subash Gond, Municipal Chairman, Prahalad Tripathy, ZP vice-chairperson Nibadita Mohanty, officials from various department  attended the meeting.

As per the modalities and guidelines of Biju KBK programmes the an amount of Rs.750.00 lakhs (State Sector Rs.500 Lakhs and district sector Rs. 250 lakhs) i.e. 50 percent against total budgetary allocation of Rs. 1500 lakhs have been received from the govt in Planning and coordination deptt for utlisation under Sadak, Bijuli and Pani sectors.
Ms. Sarangi, placed the estimates prepared for 273 project works before the house. Out of which 154 projects for connectivity with an estimated cost of 687 lakhs, irrigation 33 projects 437 lakhs, electricity 43 projects 136 lakhs, livelihood 22 projects 131 lakhs, Health 7 projects, education 6 projects,  8 for W & CD  (Anganwadi Centre’s) and 21 other projects for approval in the meeting.
 The projects under district sector has been identified by the Collector in consultation with people’s representatives and concerned district level officers. The projects under the state sector has been identified by the collector and line departments sarangi said.
Speaking to the occasion Minister Dr. Rout suggested to prepare a master plan map for connectivity so that all villages will have communication facility. Five specialists for district headquarters hospital, besides one for Chandahandi, Tentulikhunti, and Jharigam has already posted and 108 ambulance to the district will be provided within the August Dr.Raut added.

For the technical support on formulation of comprehensive district annual plan, President, Centurion University of Technology and Management, Bhubaneswar appraise the house through power point presentation.
