Orissa Govt to launch MAMATA from Sept. 2011 to curb death rate of pregnant women

Bhubaneswar: Orissa Government decides to launch scheme MAMATA from Sept. 2011 to curb death rate of pregnant women and babies. This was announced by chief minister Naveen Patnaik after presiding over a meeting here.
The scheme will benefit rural women, especially those pregnant women who are working as labourers. "It will help promote new born care, vaccination and other health benefits for pregnant women as well as child care services," he said.
As per the scheme, an assistance of Rs 5000 will be given to each pregnant woman in four installments. The first installment of Rs 1,500 will be paid after 6 months of pregnancy with registration and vaccination in an Anganwadi centre.
The second installment of Rs 1,500 will be paid when the new born is three months old with registration and appropriate vaccination of the child.
The third and fourth installments of Rs 1,000 each will be provided when the new born is six and nine months old with appropriate vaccination and new born care.
