New Delhi: The election for the President of India has been fixed for July 19. Votes will be counted, if needed, on July 22, said Chief Election Commissioner V Sampath this evening.

- Election to President Office of India must be free and fair and the commission is taking all necessary steps in discharging its constitutional responsibility.
- The EC has decided to appoint secretary general of Rajya Sabha as the returning officer for these elections.
- Notification to be issued on June 16
- Last day for nominations: June 30
- Scrutiny of nominations : July 2
- Last date for withdrawal: July 4
- Elections to be held on July 19
- Counting, if required, to be held on July 22
- Chief Electoral Officers of each state shall supervise and coordinate with assistant returning officers in state capitals.
