Bengal accords 2nd language status to Odia


The West Bengal Government on Wednesday decided to accord second language status in official work to Odia, Hindi, Gurmukhi and Santhali in the areas where over 10 per cent of the population spoke the languages.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the State Cabinet presided over by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, according to reports reaching here.The West Bengal Government had earlier accorded the second language status to Urdu.
