Nabarangpur:The car festival had concluded in peacefully
manner after ban on hurling obscenities at the chariot for the first time Woman
power was display near chariot here on Thursday. Hundreds of women devotees
with male devotees pulled chariot which created history in the district. Expressing
pleasure District collector, Sibabrata Dash, said that Prior to
this year women found it difficult to even come near the ropes of the
chariot, but after ban on hurling obscenities today women pulling chariot
which reflects the rich and distinct cultural heritage of Nabarangpur.
Ms.Sussma Jain, President Durgabhaini, along with Rising Star Rotarian’s participating in pulling chariot and cheering women devotees said that we are thankful to the district administration for arranging to pull the chariot and the same tradition will be continued further she added. Some of the tribal women are thrilled to participate in pulling of chariat. For the smooth and peaceful pulling of chariot the district administration has deployed huge number police personals of both genders.
