President of India election on July 19.

New Delhi:  The election for the President of India has been fixed for July 19. Votes will be counted, if needed, on July 22, said Chief Election Commissioner V Sampath this evening.
The Chief Election Commissioner VS Sampath said :

  • Election to President Office of India must be free and fair and the commission is taking all necessary steps in discharging its constitutional responsibility.
  • The EC has decided to appoint secretary general of Rajya Sabha as the returning officer for these elections.
  • Notification to be issued on June 16
  • Last day for nominations: June 30
  • Scrutiny of nominations : July 2
  • Last date for withdrawal: July 4
  • Elections to be held on July 19
  • Counting, if required, to be held on July 22 
  • Chief Electoral Officers of each state shall supervise and coordinate with assistant returning officers in state capitals.
